Some pieces are effortless, which is how it worked with this piece. When I start painting it’s just layering colors and marks on loose canvas, no plans in place. Then I experiment with components and compositions. I don’t always find such a natural fit like I did here. Sometimes I have to trim the canvas or add more color, but I think that’s kind of like life. As long as there’s curiosity present, there’s enough to make it work. The grass is greener where you water it.

Complementary blue and sunset orange colors provide a comforting harmony, but an undercurrent of hope is found here as well. A small, but powerful depiction of new things to come, this piece will bring energy to any space it occupies.
