My daughter possesses a certain energy that can’t be masked or contained, only directed. It’s a spice and a bite that underscores her complex flavor. At first I envied it, then I studied it, until finally I recognized it- as mine too. Children are most certainly a mirror for parts of ourselves we find uncomfortable to look directly at.
